NHL (games of Jan. 2):

Jason Zucker notched his 13th assist to help the Minnesota Wild 21-16-3) beat the visiting Florida Panthers, 5-1. He took five shots on goal in 14:10.

Zach Hyman took one shot on goal in 19:46, but the Toronto Maple Leafs (23-16-2) were shut out by the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning, 2-0.

Michael Cammalleri took three SOG in 14: as his new team, the Edmonton Oilers (17-20-3_, fell to his old team, the visiting LA Kings, 5-0.

Brandon Leipsic took three SOG in 13:12 as the Vegas Golden Knights (27-9-2) shut out the visiting Nashville Predators, 3-0.

Jason Demers and the Arizona Coyotes had the night off.


Omri Casspi and the Golden State Warriors were off yesterday. He has a bruised rib but is listed as probable as they host Mark Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks tonight.

In other news…

Is Josh Rosen’s stock falling in the NFL Draft? Maybe he shouldn’t be so quick to leave UCLA? On the other hand, you never know what impact another season might have.
